Dalton High School Commencement May 25 1949
Dalton High School holds commencement in the High School Auditorium on Wednesday May 25 at 8 15 pm. The program features orchestra music, invocation by Rev Reuben Hofstetter, welcome by Class President Marion Moser, girls quartet song, commencement address by Simon W Davidian, diploma presentation by M W Douglas, piano solo by Lela Hochstetler, and lists the Class of 1949 graduates including Waneta Showalter June Domer Hazeljean Springer Barbara Winkler and more. Dalton School Boy Patrol Honored At Community Club Dinner
The School Boy Patrol of Dalton Schools was honored at a Dalton Community Club dinner. Each boy received a gift for excellent work during the past school year. The club plans to sponsor a baseball team with the Dalton Post for Wayne County youth and enter two age-group teams in the Hot Stove League. Better street lighting was discussed and a public affairs committee will investigate.

Memorial Day Speaker Rev Mark L. Brown to Lead Ceremony
Rev Mark L. Brown former Dalton Methodist Church pastor and Army chaplain will speak at Memorial Day events. He served as Regimental Chaplain of the 103rd Infantry in the 43rd Division with campaigns in Guadalcanal New Georgia Aitape Luzon and earned three battle stars plus a Bronze Star. The parade forms 1 30 PM May 30 at Town Hall and proceeds to the cemetery with veterans graves to be decorated.

Will Sail For Europe Weekends Visitors To Steiner Home
Mr and Mrs Franklin Steiner Jr of Akron Pa will sail May 20 from New York to Europe aboard the Queen Mary. They will reside in Basel Switzerland where Steiner becomes European Area controller for the Mennonite Central Committee. Dalton citizens traveled to Columbus to oppose plans to move U S Route 30 1200 feet south of its present path. They urged keeping the road through Dalton with expanded lanes and parking, arguing a bypass would devastate local business and property values.
