Memorial Day Speaker Named for Dalton Observance

Rev. H. Toogood ex Army chaplain will deliver the Memorial Day address in Dalton on Monday May 1. An Australian by birth he has lived in Ohio 18 years except for 3 years eight months in the army including over two years in the Pacific theater. He studies at Oberlin Theological Seminary. Dalton Post VFW chairs the event with Vern Hoebler as day chairman.

Light turnout in Dalton precincts during Tuesday primary

In Dalton precincts the Tuesday primary attracted a light vote totaling 177. Republican candidates Tyrrell and Rike led with 58 and 60 votes respectively while Democrats Tyrrell and Wilson received 58 and 9. Mills led Republicans with 46 and Mills 46.

Peter Busse Dies Suddenly at High Heat Mine

Peter Busse 65 of Dalton died suddenly at his residence at the High Heat Coal mine between Brewster and Navarre. Born in Alsace Lor ra ine he was a United Mine Workers member. Surviving are son Gordon of Brewster and two sisters Mrs mamua ocumiat Massillon and Mrs Elizabeth Jauchem Akron. Massillon Barbershop Chorus presents Parade of Quartets and Male Chorus at Dalton High School auditorium on Thursday evening May 13 1948 at 8 15 sponsored by East Greenville Boy Scouts. Public invited with donations 50 and 75 cents. The Mother Daughter banquet at the Presbyterian basement featured a toastmistress a program of songs readings and a guest speaker.
