The Massillon Electric and Gas Co. turned on power Monday evening with a Schultz shops demo of Fisher Electric lights. Wiring of dwellings and business places will start immediately, contracts already let. The Board of Education has a proposal to wire school halls under consideration.
Mrs L Arnold of Canal Futton buys the A H Arick furniture and undertaking business including building stock fixtures and goodwill and takes possession immediately.
Mrs Arias Fritz of Rittman was instantly killed last Wednesday when struck by an Erie westbound freight train while walking on the tracks near the new depot. She was about 60, leaving a husband six children and a mother. Children live in Wadsworth and Michigan. funeral held by Rev Steffanni at Wadsworth Friday.
A vintage advertisement touts Dr King\u2019s New Discovery as the world\u2019s most reliable cough remedy for forty three years. It claims over three zillion bottles used last year and offers a money back guarantee. J J Owens of Allendale South Carolina praises it as the best cough remedy after twenty years of use. 50 cents to a dollar at A J White's.
The Methodist church ladies hold their annual Easter Sale and Bazaar in the church basement starting Friday March 21 at 6 pm with a chicken supper menu including chicken and noodle soup baked beans potato salad bread pickles cake coffee peaches. The sale continues Saturday afternoon with pastry ice cream sherbet and a line of aprons sunbonnets fancy work and other items. Contributors to aprons sunbonnets and fancy work should leave articles with named coordinators.
A vintage advertisement touts Dr King’s New Life Pills as a solution for constipation. The copy claims the pills stimulate the liver improve digestion and purge toxins from the system. The message ends with a dealer reference to A J White’s.

Stinson resigns from coal shaft to work for McDowell. Snodgrass and Houghton win contract for David Stinson's new house. Clara Howard and Alice Hackett of Massillon visited the Harpers on Buckeyest Street. Dalton markets note grain prices and general goods.
Council met in regular session with Mayor Cooney presiding. Bills allowed include payments to McDowell Co and Cooney office rent. Semi annual appropriation ordinance passed. Wayne County Telephone Co refused ordinance. file. Ditch Beaver Dam viewed. water works committee to seek additional supply. Wm. N. LaViers resignation accepted. A E Sanders elected to fill vacancy.
The Hoffman Brothers Blind Singers present a sacred concert at the M E Church on Friday evening March 28. Admission 10 and 20 cents.
An appropriation ordinance by the Village of Dalton Ohio for the half year ending June 99 1913. It allocates funds from General, Public Safety, Public Service, Health and Water Works funds for salaries, expenses and contingencies. The village clerk is authorized to issue warrants on proper vouchers and the ordinance takes effect at the earliest legal period.
Social notes recount dinners and gatherings at the homes of the Hosrt and Wenger families with guests including Stoner and Wenger. Denters and quilting events are described with about 25 attendees. Marriages noted include Fred Fahrney wed Iva Berg in Orrville and Marvin Wertz to Lula Bowman.
Minister M A Burris argues hypocrisy exists in church and every organization from government to family. He says avoiding the church for hypocrites is futile and urges self scrutiny to live up to professed beliefs rather than hide behind others. He warns against retreating to hermit-like avoidance and emphasizes accountability before God.
Dalton Public Schools held an agricultural program and exhibit on Thursday with pupil themes, farm products, domestic science displays, and a featured address by Prof. S. A. Harbourt, Agricultural Director of Schools of Northeastern Ohio. The event drew praise for its robust exhibits including weeds, corn, wheat, fertilizers, livestock lithographs, and student crafts, though turnout was limited by weather.
David Harley Gochnauer a former resident died at his home in Baughman Township near No 7 school house of pneumonia on Thursday March 6 1913 aged 58 leaving a wife one sister Mrs Abraham Mann of Ashland three brothers Frank and George of this place and Samuel J of Massillon and many relatives. Funeral held Saturday from the Methodist church pallbearers were nephews W A Clayton Samuel and Thomas Gochnauer. Out of town visitors listed. The family thanks neighbors for kindness during illness and burial.
Funeral services for David Arick were held at the home of his son A. H. Arick on Main Street at 10 o'clock Thursday. The body was interred at Orrville cemetery after the service. Rev. M. A. Burris officiated with many old friends in attendance from Orrville and nearby towns. Out of town mourners included SS. T. Arick of River Styx, Geo. Wunder and wife, Geo. Limbeck of Akron, Albert Fuckinger and family of Doylestown, Rex Jacobe and family of Massillon, and Mrs. Florence Weigle of Orrville.

Larry McGovern moved to Walter Wecht's farm near Eastfireenville. Walter Wecht moved Saturday to his farm near East, Union. J I Eschliman moved to his farm north of town Wednesday.
Under the True Manliness Society a free lecture titled How to Win the Boys will be given Saturday evening at M.KE church at :00 o'clock. The speaker is the Rev. John G. Schaibly of Wheeling, Ohio. Admission free and all are invited.
