Cleveland Browns coach Fritz Heisler will speak at the Dalton Community Club athletic banquet in Dalton High School auditorium on Wednesday March 9. He will show Browns mov ies. Reservations must be made by Monday.
Solicitors for Red Cross the 1949 Red Toss Fund campaign opened Tuesday. Workers to canvass the business district are Mrs. Carroll Scott and Mrs. Lester Mon barren. In residential sections a house to house canvass by Mesdames John Hoblick C V Clark Al Regert Karl Shocksnider Alma Williams Robert Weikert Russell Weisgarver Raymond Zaugg E A VanDersall Russell Huff Jr and Troy Douglas. Mrs Clarence Kraus is fund campaign chairman for Dalton.
The Dalton Softball Association will hold a meeting in the town hall on Thursday evening March 3 at 7 30. Election of officers and related business will be discussed.
County Auditor will send a representative to Dalton town hall to aid filing personal tax listing on Friday March 18 and Friday April 1. Earl Lautenschlager, Auditor.
James Goudy of RD 2 Dalton was operated on at Massillon city hospital Friday removing his right leg below the knee. Ira Wertz spent several days in Detroit with his son Bud Wertz and family to attend the father son banquet at the Methodist church. Dalton teachers invited to hear Miss Mabel Studebaker NEA president March 4 with likely representation from Dalton.
Rev LE Merrel Marker and his family from Moro Illinois moved into the parsonage on North Church Street Tuesday. Marker, the new pastor, will preach next Sunday March 13 as he returns to his former charge this week to give his farewell sermon. Dr Charles Wishart of Wooster will occupy the local pulpit this Sunday March.
Dalton Home and School League will meet in the High School auditorium on Friday evening March 4 at 8 00. The Music Department directed by Victor Gerber will furnish the program with special contest numbers featured. Secretary notes.
The Dalton Garden Club will meet on Thursday evening March 3 at Mrs. Ed Hazel s home. Members should bring one package of flower or vegetable seeds to be sent to Wayne Co Children s Home where each child will plant a small garden. Sec y.
Mrs Olive Davis and Mr Glenn O Thompson of Worcester were married Sunday in their new Eddy road home. Pastor Dr John R Williams performed the ceremony and the couple left for a Florida vacation.

Womens groups from the Methodist Federated and Salem churches sponsor World Day of Prayer on Friday March 4. A program will be held in the Methodist church at 2 o clock with millions of women worldwide praying for bread clothing peace and a closer communion with God.

Russell Thompson thanks friends for prayers and beautiful flowers during illness in hospital and at home saying the encouragement and get well cards were an inspiration and will be cherished.
Funeral services were held for Harry H. Gerber in Orrville with burial at Crown Hill cemetery. Ottie Belle Harrold of Wilmot was buried in Green Lawn cemetery and survived by a large family. Edwin L. Slusser’s funeral took place at the Dalton Methodist church with many out of town relatives attending. burial was in Dalton cemetery. The notice lists numerous attendees from Ohio and nearby states, including Tait, Miller, Slusser, and Ralston families among others.
