Fire Department News and Plans for Summer Events
The Volunteer Fire Department met at the station with 17 present after repairs to the siren and building. They bought radio equipment for 1900 dollars and a 65 dollar battery charger to aid fire trucks and Civil Defense. A tank wagon check is set for June 22 in Canton. A lumber stand for the Street Fair blanket star on July 20 will be built by 14 volunteers led by Victor Houghton Paul Schultz Tony Shupbaugh and 12 others. Merle Douglas reported on the Apple Creek county meeting held June 20.

Ohio Vocational Agriculture Conference At Wooster And Cleveland
325 Ohio vocational agriculture teachers attended the Annual Conference in Wooster and Cleveland June 19 17. D H Scott represented Dalton high school as Paul P Mechling and C E Beougher presided. Speakers from Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station included W E Krauss and G A Hammon. Tours of Nela Park and a GE visit complemented discussions on lighting grain drying farm wiring motors and hay drying. Mark Nichols of Salty Lake City Utah spoke on vocational agriculture. Over 400 attended the Recognition Bangout at Smithville Inn where 25 year service keys were presented and teachers received 5 10 15 and 20 year certificates.
