Five year old Helen Halter daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Halter of Orrville was killed instantly at 10 50 am when the left rear wheel of a truck passed over her head. Harold Buss 16 drove the milk truck and was not held responsible for the accident.
In a Davenport venue, items including vases were cataloged amid an Overture-Reception and Trumpet Trio performance. Participants Scott, Tracy, and Goudy performed alongside Vejvoda, Woods, and Jewell in a quirky program.
Charles Wecht aged 76 sustained back injuries and a slight brain concussion after a ladder toppled while he picked cherries at his son Raymond’s southeast of town home. Dr. A R Kern treated him. he was unconscious when found but resting comfortably at last report.
The church will hold no services in July except July 30 when the pastor resumes duties. Members are urged to attend other community churches in the interim. A. J. Sanders, Pastor.
The Band Mothers club will meet at the high school building Friday evening June 30 at 7 00 o clock.
At a Tuesday evening meeting of the Sugar Creek township school district board, assignments were made. Dalton High School roles include Ralph Hathaway as Supt, George Eastman as Principal, Evangeline White Eng. Latin, Glen Berg English and Science, Mildred Santschi English, George Vlerebome Commercial, D H. Scott Coach, Faye Pickens Voc Agr, and Dorothy Mumaw Home Ec. Dalton Grades list teachers for each grade, with Don Garver and Victor Gerber for Music. Other schools assign George Amstutz, Geneva Brand, Pauline Gerber Sonnenberg, Evan Amstutz, Martin D Moser, Helen Fosnight, Esther Eberly, and Daisy Vernon to respective positions.
The school board appointed H. J. Kraus and Ray Camp to janitorial roles and approved purchasing an additional school bus to expand transportation capacity.
The Sugar Creek Township Trustees scheduled a meeting at Town Hall in Dalton Ohio for Thursday evening June 29 1939 at 8 40. Clerk E F Scott notes the call and time.
The Martin Schultz family held its first reunion at the North Church street home of A E Schultz in Marion. The event celebrated Mrs. Clara Houghton’s 73rd birthday with a noon picnic for about thirty, a three tier cake from Carrie Schultz of Wooster, and an outdoor afternoon among the trees. Families from East Liverpool Akron Cleveland Marion Wooster and Akron area attended along with extended relatives including Oren Schultz Ellis Houghton and Paul Schultz. The lawn and roses framed the gathering at the old homestead.
Real estate taxes are due and may be paid at First National Bank in Dalton Ohio. The notice details the payment location and deadline.
The Boy Scouts of East Greenville sponsor a carnival and festival in East Greenville on Saturday night July 8 featuring bingo eats concessions entertainment a stage revue by Happy Feet Wade Billy Parsons and others three bands and junior veterans drum corps perform mothering the event offers varying entertainment options and community fun.

The 19th annual Hofstetter reunion is set for Tuesday July 4 1939 at Bonnie Brae 2 miles southeast of Dalton on the Dalton West Lebanon road. Eunice Hofstetter Corr Sec urges attendance for a happy family gathering and notes name on stationery at Gazette Office with new samples.
The notice states Slusser's Beauty Shoppe will open on Monday preceding the Fourth of July holiday, with operations adjusted for July 3rd.
