Street Lights For Dalton Plan Clears City Council

At a Friday meeting the council enacted preliminary legislation to install a street lighting system for Dalton. The plan calls for 36 lights including seven of 300 candle power and 29 of 200 candle power, to be overhead suspensions. Lights will be placed along Main Street Schultz Ave Church and Mill Streets and at intersections, with operation expected by mid August and an official opening during the Annual Band Carnival night.

Y P C U Convention Elects Leaders At Dalton

Eighty five delegates attended the Y P C U convention at United Presbyterian church. Rev. W H Hubbell of Cleveland gave the evening address. James Anderson of Canton was elected president and Kate Wyre of Dalton vice president. A banquet followed with reps from Canton First Bedford Ave Fairmount Reedurban Wooster and Savannah churches.

Drought ends and local notes from Sonnenberg news

Generous rains ended a long drought in Sonnenberg with a heavy hailstorm on Wednesday. The week saw visits from Elmer Wuetrich and his three children, a surprise quilting for Mrs. Badertscher, and several residents attending farm days and family events. The college sent fourteen representatives and E E Kirchhofer traveled to attend a funeral for his aunt Chr Augsburger. Rev Ray Weld and family visited Zuerchers after a Maryland conference.

Missionary Meeting At Pleasant View Church

Missionaries from India Rev. M. C. Lehman and wife will speak at Pleasant View on Sunday June 29. The morning service begins at 9 30 with a sermon by Rev Lehman and a children's meeting at 1 p m led by Lydia Lehman. An evening session at 7 00 follows with a talk on Indian manners and customs. All are welcome.
