Second Annual Picnic in Bowers Grove Township Held
Last Thursday in Bowers Grove Sugarcreek Township Patterson commenced with a picnic inviting patrons from all local schools including Dalton special district. The event showcased rising interest in education, featured a morning athletic contest between Elnehh and West Lebanon won 16 to 2 by Kidron, and included a noon basket meal, a Regt band performance, and graduation exercises led by Harrison Zuercher with Rev. A A Sommer and Rev. W H Hubbell taking part.

George C Race Dies After Illness in Dalton
George C Race, born May 22 1842 in Massillon Ohio, died June 21 1911 in Dalton aged 69 20. He served in the 104th O V I during the Civil War and later ran a broketh shop and lumber trade. He was mayor in 1905 and active in church and G A R. Survived by four children Mrs W J Burat Pittsburg Will C Peoria Clyde G and Wade W all of whom attend. Funeral Friday June 23 at 2 pm from the house and 2 30 at the M I church.

Death of Samuel Knutts of Burton City at 66
Samuel Knutts of Burton City died Monday evening June 1Y after months of illness from stomach cancer. A German-born immigrant arriving in 1874 he lived in Burton City about eighteen years. He leaves a widow three sons and one daughter Fred of North Lawrence Samuel of this place John of Massillon and Mrs Henry Horst. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Pleasant View church conducted by Revs Benj Good and Henry Hursh with A El Arick in charge.

J Goodman a rag peddler living with two Jewish friends in Urrville died of heart trouble Friday morning. He woke at 4 15 am with illness and asked to go to Dr Shie's office where he collapsed in a chair. Survived by a wife three sons and three daughters in Canton he missed his daughter's Canton High commencement due to lack of funds for fare.

The Indepen dent Order of Odd Fellows Memorial was observed by Arlington lodge on Sunday afternoon. Members and visiting brothers met at the lodge room at two o'clock, marched to the cemetery led by the 11th Regiment Band, decorated graves, then returned to the hall for refreshments. New Game Laws In Ohio Reported By Chief Warden Speaks
Changes to Ohio game laws include a squirrel season from September 15 to October 20 with a five per day bag limit. A December to September closed season bans fox hunting. Muskrat is a game animal from January 1 to April 1. Raccoon season runs November 1 to March 1. Muskrat and raccoon may be killed on private property any time except Sunday. A pamphlet edition of laws is in print. Hunters License bill failed to pass despite Senate support. Public opposition from farmers influenced defeat of a quail expansion proposal.
