Edward Dougherty aged 69 years 3 months 28 days of North Lawrence was killed by a rock fall at Mine 22 also known as the Von Gunten mine southeast of town. Coroner King ruled accidental death from roof fall. Born Feb 14 1842 in Scotland Dougherty was a bachelor with Scotch Irish heritage. Funeral held at Canal Fulton yesterday with Frank Welty and family in attendance.

The Sugarcreek Township Board of Education met in regular session at town hall Dalton with all members present. President A. E. Dague presided. Bills for salaries and incidental expenses were approved. The buildings committee was instructed to hire a surveyor and place a corner stone for district No. 8. The old District No. 2 building sold to E. P. Gerber for 115 dollars. The building will be removed in ten days to begin work on the new district No. 2 building.

Evan Jones aged 62 of Canton escaped from attendants at the Massillon state hospital garden Friday afternoon and, while fleeing for a mile, collapsed and died from heart failure near the Ohio canal west of the institution. Coroner F W Gavin of Canton conducted the autopsy the following morning.
