The Dalton sewer project gains State Board of Health approval and moves to Akron for federal review with expected Washington consent. If final approval arrives, construction would start after the Doylestown job, likely late fall or winter, employing Dalton and Wayne county workers. Original expenses of about 4500 dollars will be credited to Dalton, reducing its share. mayor Paul A. Stockham asserts no impossible burden will result.

Dalton Mourns Longtime Mayor and Musician John Will Erwin

John Will Erwin aged 87 9 12 died suddenly at home after months of illness. He served Dalton as mayor in 1916 17 1926 27 and 1928 29 and led the Dalton Cornet band for 66 years. He directed the Presbyterian church choir since age 18 and was a lifelong member. Burial in Dalton cemetery with 11th Regt Band escort. Survivors include widow Laura and four sons plus a daughter, eight grandchildren, and two sisters.

Hand Crushed in Wringer At Hartman Home

Grandma Snively an 88 year old in the David Hartman home east of town had her hand caught in a wringer while helping with chores. The skin on the palm and back was rolled back and a painful wound resulted. Dr Hart of Massillon treated the injury.

Dies of illness in hospital in Ohio pastor Shoup

Martin Van Buren Shoup of Beach City Holmes county Ohio died after treatment at Radium Hospital Columbus. He passed away June 9 and his body was returned home. Funeral services led by Rev I J Buchwalter at Longenecker church were held June 11 in front of a large crowd.

Community Orchestra Announces Sunday Service at Presbyterian Church

The Community Orchestra schedules a Sunday concert on June 19 at the Presbyterian church. Program includes March Alcazar Serenade Nightfall A Sacred Songs selection When Love Shines In Gebel Pastorale Wilde Intermezzo In a Moonlit Garden and a Dedication to all Fathers march The Troubador. Color Day at Bluffton College Draws Local Figures

Mrs. Amos' Tschantz, Mrs. Harry Blosser and Stanley Tschantz attended Bluffton college Color Day exercises on Monday. Prof. W. L Miller, former school superintendent here now in Mansfield, visited Dalton friends. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ames and Francia Jane of Canton, guests of Mrs. Ames' parents, D. A. Lautenschlager. Other weekend visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhoads and Phyllis Ann of Elyria, and Mrs. Gladys Acker of Cleveland. Grace Myers and daughter Margaret toured Washington D C by Greyhound first of the week.

Walnut Creek plays at Dalton next Sunday June 19 in a doubleheader after rain left the field waterlogged. Dalton won the opener 3 to 2 and the nightcap 6 to 2 as Girard struck out 11 and Matter 12 in a muddy, delayed start. Orr homered for Dalton. Kostocky and Walchuck led Akron.

Samuel J Steiner born November 7 1868 near Mt. Eaton died June 7 1938 at age 69 after long illness. He married Lydia Moser December 30 1890 and they had 12 children. Funeral at Kidron Mennonite Church with burial Sonnenberg Cemetery.
