Richard D. Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale E. Scott of 505 East Main Street, Columbia Kentucky, earned an associate of arts degree. As Science Club president he received an engraved cup for highest scholastic standing and the Biological Science award for top biology student. He served on the student council this year and will attend Ohio State in the fall. his parents and Miss Bonnie Blough attended the commencement.

Dalton girl places in Miss Kentucky Pageant top ten
Louise Speck daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph Speck competed in the Miss Kentucky Pageant in Louisville June 7 to 10. She finished in the top ten and won a scholarship award. Her parents and sister Gail attended the final judging telecast across Kentucky and nearby states. For her talent she sang an aria from Menotti's The Telephone.

Christmas bundles sent worldwide from Peasant View church
About 175 Christmas bundles of new clothing and linens for children up to 16 were dedicated at Peasant View Mennonite Church. They were prepared by the W.M.S.A. and will be shipped to missions, including Indian people in Mississippi. The service featured devotions by Mrs. Bob Coffy and a letter from the David Weaver family.

Public affairs tackle sewer plant issues in Dalton
Dalton Board of Public Affairs met Tuesday night to address labor problems and plant neglect. Superintendent must spend at least five hours daily at the sewer plant. The board hired Bob Bushman of Orrville as technical director after a state health department inspection cited poor condition and improper operation.

Kenny received 900 a year to Muskingum College Lois 600 a year to Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing Mark earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan Michael received 600 a year scholarship to Cornell plus a 600 loan and a 600 work program.

Council authorizes drilling of new well
The council passed a resolution empowering the board of public affairs to take all necessary steps to install a new well. The mayor was informed of numerous junked cars on company property and deteriorating buildings. The mayor was urged to enforce the ordinance on these matters. Councilman Swartz will meet with streets to draft drainage and resurfacing specs and approximate costs for bidding.
