In a June 5 1967 letter to the editor L A Sells complains about the board of public affairs rescheduling meetings without proper notice. He cites lost pay and requests consistent meeting nights. The letter notes Lynn Weikert and Ed Burger were absent due to school and graduation commitments amid recent postponements.
The piece mocks a Consumer Protection Agency decision labeling only fur from mink as mink and reclassifying other furs as weasel, suggesting the ruling will influence social norms and even divorce rates, with a wry tale of a wife awaiting a husband who indulges in away-from-home whims.
Vernon C. Spires USN has been on leave with parents Adrian and the late return to duty. He was on USS Cromwell DE 1014 since last July and attended electronics warfare training in Newport R. I. He will report aboard USS J W Weeks DD 701 in Norfolk Virginia. The Weeks departure and final destination are not yet published.
Warren Pennsylvania visitors Mr and Mrs Vern Hoobler see their second grandchild. James Bolender and family attend Ohio University commencement with son Robert Edwin among 1500 degree recipients. Other guests include the Leonard Tracys of Sylvania and Wilbur Werty of Oberlin.
Ashland College announces Gary L. Kula in the 1967 graduating class. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a biology major and participated in dormitory government Phi Kappa Psi Judo football and wrestling. Baccalaureate is Sunday June 11 at 9 00 am followed by Commencement at 3 00 pm on campus. The Burnett Dance Studio presented show The Wonderful World of Television will be at Dalton junior high auditorium Saturday at 8 00 pm with tickets in adult 1.25 and 50 cents for children.
Area groups are invited to reserve stalls for the Dalton VFW street carnival on July 12 with limited space. Contact Norman Berg or Russell Dague soon to secure a spot.
Susan Douglas daughter of Mr and Mrs M W Douglas of Pine Drive Dal ton is candidate for the bachelor of science in education degree at Whit enberg University's annual commencement on June 12 in the source article.
On a clear Cape Chemistry day the crew prepared a rocket launch. The 3 40 bell signaled transfer from the assembly area to the launch pad. Mark Von Gerber fitted the capsule as Mike Thomas Chuck Yoder watched. The countdown began and the rocket lifted with a white smoke trail. George Bixler supervised recovery as the ship descended and touched down softly.
Bluffton College graduate Gretchen Gerber and Victor Gerber joined seniors in the town as Bluffton news shares that Gretchen earned a BS in social work on May 29 and accepted a field job in Wooster. The column blends school notes with local science fiction humor and cheerleader picks while reflecting on a DHS closure and summer plans.
This Sunday and next, Dalton community services will be 8:30 at the Methodist church and 10:45 at the Presbyterian, Rev. Robert Richardson in charge both Sundays. Sun school at the Methodist 9:30 with supt. James West. Acolytes for June are Diane and Louise Weisgarber. Welcomers are Mr and Mrs William Tyrell. The Wednesday Women's Growth group will discontinue meeting for part of the summer. Cherub-choir practice is Wednesday June 14 at 7 p.m. The other choirs will not rehearse. The children will sing at the 8:30 service June 18. The finance commission will meet with a representative of the board of missions Tuesday evening June 13. The official board will meet Monday June 19 at 8.

Delta Kappa Gamma Wayne county grants in aid award two women Miss Doreen Wenger and Miss Jolene Riggle. Wenger is a Danforth award winner from Dalton high. The society supports individuals pursuing teaching careers. Dalton community worship services continue Sunday at 8 30 a m Methodist church and 10 45 a m Presbyterian church with Mr Richard son preaching. C Y F plans weekend retreat at Pleasant Hill camp.
The Wayne County bookmobile will visit Mt Eaton 1 45 to 2 45 p m West Lebanon 3 to 4 p m Snively Station 4 19 to 5 30 p m and Dalion 5 35 to 8 30 p m on Monday June 12.
