Grand Jury Reports Thirteen Indictments

A former Dalton citizen in Auxier Kentucky writes June 6 1917 reporting cooler spring weather turning warmer with good crops and many locals joining war gardens. Twenty nine young men left for Louisville bringing total to fifty from the village. registry shows 124 residents ready to support Old Glory. He sends $1 for renewed Gazette subscription and sends regards to the staff and friends.

Luther M Heckathorn Dies After Long Illness
Luther Martin Heckathorn, a Canton Township farmer born August 11 1856, died June 7 1917 after months with stomach cancer. Survived by wife Louise Rabel four daughters Velma and three others, one son died in infancy, two grandchildren and three sisters. Funeral at Dalton Methodist Church with Jr O U A M rite at the grave. Interment in Dalton Cemetery.
