Soldier Dead Honored Memorial Day Observance
Memorial Day turnout was large with a parade headed by the colors and the 11th Regt Band in new gray blue uniforms. Hon. Carl V. Weygandt spoke praising Dalton band music, Prof Oscar Puegner, and the men’s chorus. Rev A R Keiser opened with prayer and Rev R G Pinkerton gave benediction.

Dalton Community Club Banquet Held at M E Church
The Dalton Community Club met Thursday evening in the M E church basement with thirty in attendance. Rev H F Patterson gave the invocation Ira Adams presided and Dr Arthur S Hyde superintendent of the State hospital in Massillon spoke about his work and mental illnesses. A short business session followed and a festival was planned for late June. Sugar Creek Grange will serve the club banquet at Grange hall in June.

Mrs. Anna Chaffin Dies at 82 in Dalton Area
Anna Gift Chaffin aged 82 died Sunday afternoon at the home of her brother and sister Clementine Sadie Gift on Lincoln highway west of Dalton near Carrs. She was the tenth of 13 children to die, leaving a brother Edward of Orrville and the mentioned siblings. After her husband’s death she moved to Dalton then nine years ago to her brother and sister’s home. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 pm from the home conducted by Rev. Caldwell of the Orrville Presbyterian church. Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Boy Narrowly Survives Car Collision Near Dalton
Dick Ickes nine escaped death after a car struck him while riding a bicycle near his Dalton home. He was dragged about 180 feet on a front bumper before the car hit a telephone pole. He was taken to Massillon City Hospital with a badly lacerated left arm and severe bruising.

Crowds Hear Band Concert In Town
One of the largest crowds since the home-coming attended a Saturday night band concert. Guests included Caughey Kidd, Ralph Buchanan, and Miss Maud Buchanan of Cleveland visiting Jas Buchannan.
