Memorial Day turnout remained large despite rain and gloom. The procession featured World War veterans, Boy Scouts, civic groups, floats, flag bearers, girls with flowers, All Girl Marching Band, 11th Regt band and local fire department, with a cemetery service following the announced program.
Memorial Day visitors include P. S. Berg of Columbus W. E Erwin and Mrs Grace Weber of Akron Dr and Mrs Barton Smith of Massillon Mrs Grace Wyre Mr and Mrs Harry Dauchy of Cleveland Mervin Kosier and wife of Marshallville Mr and Mrs George Johnston of Orrville Rev and Mrs Glenn M Lauder of Erie Pa and Mr and Mrs Raymond Brenner of East Greenville.
A Cleveland group formed the Veterans of World War I of the U S A in October 1949 at the Hotel Olmsted and gained state charter. Barracks exist in 36 states with additions planned in Ohio. H R 4733 seeks a Congressional Charter. Officers may be elected locally and social and Decoration Day activities be conducted as a unit.
About 4 000 FFA members will travel to Columbus June 2 through 4 for the state convention and the 32nd judging contest sponsored by the State Department of Education and the College of Agriculture. All meetings occur on the University campus. In Ohio high schools 11 540 vocational agriculture students and local FFA chapters seek judging team positions or official delegate roles. There are 345 FFA chapters statewide per R. M. Eyman.
P T A dinner memorial day net proceeds totaled nearly 450 dollars. Mrs Amos Tschantz visited daughter Miss Esther Talchau and others. Miss Carol Graber earned a nursing diploma from Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing on Friday evening. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Floyd Graber.
Mr and Mrs John Lower and families from Cumberland Maryland Chas Clark and wife Ronald Shourds and Kitty of Canton were guests at the Kruschenske residence during Memorial Day events.

Mrs. Georgia E. Mumaw of Dalton died Thursday in Dunlap hospital Orrville after three weeks as a patient. Survived by husband Welker A. Mumaw four sons James Robert John Harold and four daughters Kathryn Margaret Dorothy Helen fifteen grandchildren two great grandchildren. Funeral Sunday May 29 at 2 PM in Dalton Methodist Church Rev Thomas W. Lorenz officiating. Burial Dalton Cemetery. Monbarren Funeral Home in charge.
Harry E. Chaney 63 of Cuyahoga Falls died Saturday at Orrville Dunlap hospital after a long illness. Services were at Auble-Hooley funeral home in Orrville with burial at Crown Hill. Survived by wife Sarah a daughter Mrs Carl Wilson of Dalton a brother Emmett of Canton and a sister Mrs Mina Leyda of Shreveport.
