Train Crashes Through Burning Bridge Near Beach City
A Wheeling and Lake Erie train on the Cleveland Zanesville division near Beach City collapsed a burning bridge Sunday afternoon around 3 30. Engineer Harry Johnson of Cleveland died heroically after attempting to stop the train. Fifteen passengers were seriously injured and taken to Massillon city hospital. The engine, baggage car and smoker fell through the bridge. a passenger coach behind the smoker stood upright over the creek bank while flames consumed the wreckage. The fourth coach burned as onlookers watched.

Car Collision Leaves Girl Seriously Injured Near Massillon
An auto crash on Dalton road west of town at 7 p.m. injures Gladys Basht, 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Basht of Massillon, when two cars ahead collided and forced Basht’s car into a ditch. The girl suffered severe facial injuries as the vehicle overturned. Mr. Basht and the child were taken to Massillon city hospital. Mary Flannery of Orrville, a passenger in the other car, received a scalp wound and also went to the Massillon hospital.
