Benefit Ball Game for Injured Nussbaum Builder Bill Wertz
A benefit softball game is set for Saturday night July 16 at Dalton Memorial Field to raise funds for Bill Wertz who broke his ankle sliding into second base against the Canton Clowns. Canton Clowns return engagement and a half hour Ira and John's Clown Band concert from 9 to 9:30 precede the game under 9:00 PM lights. No admission charged with a collection to support Wertz.

Carnival of Two Nights Ends in Grand Celebration
Dense crowds enjoyed the Carnival with Dale Porcher leading the music and dancing. Prizes were awarded Thursday night including a portable radio to Mary Koster and a Bendix Deluxe Washer to Hans Grossmklaus. Friday night winners featured Charles Cramer and others earning dishes, an electric mixer, a TV set, and more. The $5 cash prize went to Volney Youngen.

Community Thanks For Carnival Support And Notes
The Dalton Post 5534 VFW expresses sincere thanks to all who donated pies and cakes and services for the carnival and credits the community cooperation for the event. Plates and pans left at the carnival may be picked up at the Methodist church basement. A Thursday night VF W carnival featured a half hour concert by the Zuercher Accordion band of Berne Indiana.

Obituary of Charles C. Myers of Hemet California
Charles C. Myers 74 died June 30 1949 at Hemet hospital California after leaving Ohio at 17 with his family. Born 1874 on a farm near Dalton he later visited his childhood scene and Weismeeboone last summer. Survived by brother Edwin of Hemet and uncle Joseph Myers near Stanwood plus many relatives. The Gazette loses one of its oldest subscribers dating to its 1875 founding.
