Columbus, Jan. 14. George K. Nash was sworn in for a second term as Ohio governor in the Capitol rotunda by Chief Justice Minshall. Nash voiced gratitude for the people’s approval, urged unity with the Seventy-fifth General Assembly, and called for faithful service to advance the state. A large parade followed, led by ex-Adjt. Gen. Axline and featuring 1,500 National Guard troops and several political clubs.
Evidence links the crucifix found at Frankfort Michigan last summer to Father Pere Marquette the famed Indian missionary. The relic’s ownership was disputed until it was turned over to the Ann Arbor Railroad Co. rust cleaned off the pedestal revealed the year 1604 and the inscription M. & C. Quebec. Marquette departed Quebec for Michigan in 1664 and was buried at Frankfort.

The West slows its rise, the North and South converge, and for the first time the South grows slightly faster than the North. West extends from Pacific to Montana border. North includes the East. Growth rates: 1800-80 North 61.9, South 48.4, West 185.6. 1880-1900 North 48.7, South 48.5, West 131.5.
Two young men wearing handkerchiefs over their faces robbed Harry R B Chick’s pool room in Kansas City with drawn revolvers. They took between 1500 and 2500 dollars, while a third man guarded the door. Jimmy Driscoll was struck on the head and is reported in serious condition. several suspects were questioned and released.
A private telegram from Pittsburg reports President Denny of the Skilled Workmen's association winning approval for a national ten per cent limit on apprentices. The plan lets each preceptory of 100 members add ten new workers, easing a four year apprentice ban and potentially freezing out some manufacturers. skilled workers earn seven to twelve dollars daily.
The Anti Imperialist league sent a petition to Congress urging that Emilio Aguinaldo and Apolinario Mabini be allowed to travel to the United States and be given a hearing before Congress on their case.

Cincinnati January 9 An important common pleas suit seeks to test constitutionality of a law allowing chattel mortgage concerns to charge 14 percent per month or 18 percent per year on loans. Charles E. Haines sues Household Money Co. over a 20.60 charge for a 50 loan for six months.
Columbus January 14 Gov Nash will reappoint his staff today but Col J Hoster of Columbus a leading brewer will not be on the list. The Anti Saloon league protested the initial appointment and last fall Hoster opposed Republican legislative candidates in Franklin County aiding local option advocate Rev Clark. Hoster had offered his resignation a week ago.
An empty wagon driven by Elmer Harrison, 35, a farmer, was found on Coltsville road three miles east of Youngstown. The seat lap robe and bags were bloodstained. Harrison’s whereabouts are unknown. He had recently sold cattle for about $50 and reportedly carried $300. Authorities search the countryside as police investigate.
United States marshal seized 113 stockholders property to enforce double liability after a verdict of 9000 dollars against Sandusky Milan Norwalk Electric Railroad Co for personal injuries. The company had first mortgage bonds covering property and was deemed insolvent. Everett Moore syndicate now owns the property.
Cincinnati cabman Thomas Fleming habitually chewed straw while driving. A deep breath caused the straw to slip into his larynx, triggering a frightened halt by his horses. He was rushed to the city hospital where surgeons finally dislodged the straw after considerable effort.

Alliance report details a fire at Mrs. M. J. Cline’s residence caused by a lamp explosion. Mrs. William Anderson and her infant barely escaped. the blaze consumed the dwelling and destroyed around five hundred dollars in greenbacks.
Cleveland notes that the American Exchange and Century national banks have finalized consolidation terms. Stockholders must approve the plan. The new entity will be known as the American Exchange with a capital of $1,000,000.
Columbus reports Tim Hogan, a notorious mail box robber and escaped convict from Blackwell's Island New York, released from Ohio pen after sentence expiration. He was arrested at the gates and is being held for New York authorities. Hogan’s betrayal began when daughters of a Westerville hotel keeper found evidence of his guilt in his trunk.
