The village council met in regular session Friday night Jan 9 with Mayor Hunsicker presiding. Appointments were made to standing committees and confirmed, including Cemetery Trustee John Young for six years Street Commissioner B F Hess for one year Fire Chief W P Slusser for two years and Fred Hunsicker as janitor for one year. The annual treasurer’s report of C R Goudy was read accepted and filed.

Mother and Daughter Die in Gasoline Explosion Near Brewster
Mrs. Frederick Neidenthal, 40, and her daughter Christina, 5, are dead after a gasoline explosion at Brewster on Saturday night. Their son Eldon, 10, was badly burned. the mother died at Massillon General Hospital and Christina died Monday morning. The woman attempted to start a fire with gasoline, mistaking it for coal oil.
