James Buchanan aged 83 died Sunday at 2 PM at his home after a four day pneumonia illness. He lived near Dalton most of his life, was active in the United Presbyterian church as senior elder and former Sunday school superintendent and teacher. Born in Argyll Scotland, he is survived by his wife Ettie, two daughters, two sons, five grandchildren, and two brothers. Funeral services were held Tuesday at his residence then church with burial in Dalton cemetery.

Maretta Oberlin Blacksten 77 died at home in Dalton Wednesday evening after a two year illness. She leaves two sons Walter and Orlo, three daughters Orpha Wolf Edith Zaugg and Hattie Spubler, 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, a sister Mrs George Snavely. Funeral 2 pm Saturday at home with Rev Harvey Stoner and Rev S J Flohr. burial in Eaton cemetery. The Blacksten family expresses thanks.
The D. H. S Alumni hold their annual gathering on December 27 1935 at Riceland. The evening offers dancing card playing and entertainment for all with attendees urged to bring spouses partners and friends.
The Gazette announces it will go to press next week at noon Tuesday due to the Christmas holiday. The office will be closed all day Christmas.

Mrs Win Williams hosted eight Women’s Missionary Society members on Thursday with Amanda Lawrence leading a session on Toward a New America. The program covered Home Missions the Christian Ideal for America and needs of the Negro and Indian communities.
The YW class of the Presbyterian church met at Mrs. Cloyse Clark's home with assistances by Mrs. Morris Mentzer. President Mrs. Reese read the Christmas story from Luke. The program featured Silent Night, a talk on Ohio made toys by Mrs. Elmer Haney, readings by Mes Ira Tullis, and a mission box packed for Cleveland City Mission. Prizes went to Mrs. Carl Weisgarber, Mrs. Elmer Haney, Mrs. Paul Stockham, and Mrs. Cloyse Clark.
About thirty-two members attended the M E S S Class 9 Christmas party hosted by Mrs. Walter Domer. Program items included devotional by Mrs Newton Fetter, readings by several members, songs such as Joy to the World and Silent Night, plus a Christmas tree and gift exchange. Prizes were won in games before a late covered dish supper. The next meeting is set for Jan 9 at Kyle Lintern’s home.
