Noted events include ether first used as a dental anesthetic in 1844 and the birth of abolitionist William L. Garrison in 1804. Also references the first recorded abdominal operation in the United States in 1809.
Education board awards three year bus contracts for Sugar Creek township routes. Route 1 to Harry Blosser at 6.85 per day, Route 2 to Fred Fahrney at 6.25, Route 3 to Harry Blosser at 5.35. Bidders included D Amstutz Irvin Gerber McFarren Bros and Walter Domer.
At a special meeting of the bank directors Miss Goldie Gerber, a Canton business college student and D H S graduate, was employed as clerk and began duties Monday. County officials arrange dog tax payments at the bank. Beginning Dec 9 the bank will stay open through noon. The First National Bank Dalton Ohio.
Run of Mine coal at 4.05 per ton and 92w Nut and Slack in mix at 3.00. Lump coal priced at 450 delivered.
Creditors urged to settle accounts with E. F. Scott Admr to avoid court action and added costs. Call at the office on Thursday Friday or Saturday and open evenings for settlement.
Mrs Wm Craig of Columbus Ohio was Thursday guest of Mr and Mrs Ray Camp. Miss Helen Fosnight and Miss Ellen Boyd of Wooster college visited Mr and Mrs Martin Tyrrell.
Miss Ada Harrold of Beach City will marry J M McDowell of this place. Miss Harrold announced at a Monday evening shower hosted by Miss Faye McDowell at her home with 20 guests. The event featured Christmas decorations and five tables of bridge, with prizes won by Mrs. Zelde Weisgarber and Mrs. Alice Stauffer.
The fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Shriber of Akron will be celebrated on Tuesday December 17 with a family dinner at their son Dr Ralph Shriber’s home 393 Spicer Street Akron followed by a reception and tea for friends and relatives in the afternoon and evening. Mrs Shriber Miss Martha Douglas prior to marriage they lived in Dalton during early married life. Their children Harry D Clarence E and Mrs Arthur R Lewis reside in Akron.
Ohio Bell lines activated in Dalton central include Ralph Eberly 26F4 Jason Good 26F6 Allen Rudy 26F14 John R. Martin 69F8 and Willard Nussbaum 56F4. The items list likely customers or service codes for the recent telephones.
Dalton Athletic Association hosts a roller skating party at Myers Lake Park on December 16. Tickets cost 20 cents and are available from Elvera Sommer or Carl Shisler.

An average of 25.9 accidents per day on state highways outside municipalities was reported to the Traffic Bureau for the first ten months of 1935. Highway Director John Jaster Jr announced 7571 accidents occurred January 1 to October 31. There were 629 deaths and 6365 injuries.
The Sophomore Home Economics class staged a pageant Passing the Word tracing tuberculosis knowledge from ancient to modern times in honor of the 1935 Christmas seal sale. The program featured songs, poems, a playlet, and a concert by the Kitchen Cabinet orchestra.
A yo yo contest is announced for Friday afternoon at 4 o clock on December 13 at Hokey's Barber Shop. Open to boys and girls aged 8 to 15 with prizes for endurance. Rules emphasize quiet behavior and no fancy shooting.
Dalton High defeated Lisbon 24 to 20 in a tight Saturday game with a second half rally. It marked the team’s third win in four games this season. In the earlier match, Dalton reserves beat Marshallville 31 to 18, with Stahl and Thomas each scoring 14. The Dalton Parsons lost to Lockport Lagers 37 to 33. Clyde Camp’s funeral was held Friday at his home with large attendance and M E church rites. Interment was at Dalton Cemetery with 25 Cedar Lodge No 480 Masons conducting the rituals.
Leroy E. Lattin becomes division commercial manager in Akron succeeding Charles F. McGuire who moves to Cleveland. Lattin, with 15 years in the Bell System, previously led commercial work for Ohio Bell's north eastern area from Cleveland. He formerly served at Northwestern Bell in Omaha from 1920 to 1927.
