Mr and Mrs Jacob Tyson of Columbiana return home from visiting their daughter Mrs D H Santmyer after telegrams warn of their daughter in law Mrs Frank Tyson's illness. On arrival they learn she died from a kerosene can explosion. The husband had started a fire in the range and she poured on oil causing the blast. Her hair and clothing were burned, a six year old daughter heard screams but could not help. The woman died within hours. The Santmyers attended the funeral Friday.
The village Board of Education and Sugarcreek township board held a joint session Monday to discuss consolidating village and township schools. State inspector W A McUurdy addressed the group noting the Smith tax law has created a need for external aid to maintain a Dalton-like high school. No action was taken.
