The Board of Education will open bids Saturday December 1938 for labor and materials to build a 6 room addition to the high school, plus plumbing heating electric wiring light fixtures and equipment for the project.
Handel's Messiah will be performed Sunday evening in the Dalton high school auditorium. Admission is free with a free will offering for educational and charitable uses. Rehearsals are led by Victor Gerber. Churches schools and music lovers are urged to support this Christmas season event.

The Golden Staff Society of Martin and Pleasant View churches held a Tuesday social at Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Hostettler home. About 54 young people attended a program, officer elections, games, contests, and refreshments by the hostess. Officers elected: President Junior Steiner, Vice President Rhea Hooley, Secretary Mildred Zook, Treasurer Arlin Amstutz.
Miss Mary Elizabeth Wertz and Mr Robert Jones were married Saturday at 8 p m in Wooster at the Presbyterian church home of Rev A J Sanders. The couple will reside in Canton after a weekend motor trip.

An adult farmer education series begins this winter in the agriculture room at Dalton High School. Weekly evening sessions cover feeds and feeding with no charge. The first meeting is Thursday at 8:00 p.m. with D. H. Scott presenting and discussing what corn hybrid to buy.
A meeting of the fire department will be held at the town hall next Tuesday evening December 13. New first aid and tannic acid kits have been purchased and their use will be explained to the department.
Two home games this week. Friday features Dalton versus Fredericksburg with both teams unbeaten this season. Saturday presents Dalton against Rittman after both local clubs won at Apple Creek last Friday.

Rev. Lewis S Berg born February 8 1864 in Stark County Ohio died November 30 aged 74 years 9 months 22 days after pneumonia. Survived by wife Mi nerva Edwards 11 children including Isa bella Elmer Elston and Mrs Ella Mossop five sisters and many grandchildren. Funeral December 3 at Pleasant View church with multiple ministers officiating and interment in Pleasant View cemetery.
The family thanks all who aided during the illness death and burial of their father Rev. Lewis Berg. Gratitude is extended to those who sent floral offerings and to the ministers for their comforting words.
Levi Horst born February 16 1862 died November 28 1938 aged 76 years 9 months 12 days He married Anna Brenneman on November 1 1888 and after her death in 1902 he wed Barbara Shoup in 1904 He leaves three children Elmer B Horst of Apple Creek and two daughters from Dalton plus thirteen grandchildren two great grandchildren and three brothers David Frank and Jacob Horst He was a Mennonite church member and mourners recall a faith filled life with family notes and Memorial lines

Misses Fay Pickens Evangeline White and Louise Gano attended the Wooster teachers institute on Saturday delivering addresses on school subjects. Wm E Heller 56 former County Auditor 1923 7 died Sunday at his Wooster home after a long illness. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Funeral was held Wednesday afternoon.
