Fragment lists calendar style events including the Whitman massacre at Waikilatpu in 1847 and historical notes such as Mrs Abraham Lincoln receiving a medal in 1866 and John Brown's execution in 1859.
Dalton Rotary and Community Clubs sponsor a dinner in honor of the Dalton high school football squad. The event, Wednesday December 7, features a 6 30 p m dinner in the high school gym served by the Home Economics department with Coach Paul Brown of Massillon as guest speaker. Tickets 75 cents from the High School Athletic Association and Goudy’s Furniture Store.
The Red Cross canvass collected $8.86 for Dalton with Sugar Creek Grange giving the largest single sum of $5.00. Chairman R. G. Pinkerton thanks six team ladies for their fine efficient, generous work.
The Plymouth model, praised as the largest yet offered, debuts at a lower price than last year with refined remote control shifting and new radio. Demand is so high at Haverstock Davis that supply is insufficient and many orders are delayed. A recently introduced car was sold within an hour of display.
Clinton Grange to stage A Family Disturbance Wednesday night November 30 at 8 in the high school auditorium. The program includes articles from The American Weekly distributed with the Sunday Chicago Herald and Examiner.
Rev A S Rosenberger recently elected pastor of the Salem Mennonite church preached his first sermon last Sunday. He is Bluffton College alumnus and former Bluffton College president who resigned in 1938 due to ill health. The Rosenberger family will move to Dalton and occupy the Presbyterian parsonage beside the high school.
Local residents and visitors frequent Dalton and nearby towns for weekend visits and family gatherings. Notable names include Leslie Haney Masillon guest Rose Flynn Estella Graber and the Leese and Wertz families. The Band Mothers Club meets monthly at the high school and the County Ministerial Association gathered at Wooster M E church.
Grange at Sugar Creek will host its regular monthly social Tuesday evening December 6 with good music. Each family should bring two dozen popcorn balls. The next social is set for January 3.

Dalton National Bank adopts 9 a m to 3 p m hours with Saturday evening service. Transition causes minor convenience issues but no complaints, enabling staff to strike daily balances without interruption under examiner rules.
Miss Dorothy Eleanor Smith of Wooster married Russell Denbrook in a Friday ceremony at the Methodist parsonage in Pearisburg Virginia. Rev Hugh Benton Brown officiated as family members attended, with both families and siblings present and a future residence planned in Dalton Ohio.
John Smedley of this place sustained three fractured ribs a broken collar bone and a deep head cut nearly severing an ear in a noon Thursday collision on east Main street caused by slippery pavement. E J Shuey of Canton incurred minor head and leg injuries. Smedley was cared for by Dr A R Keirn and taken to his home in Stockham's ambulance.
Rev. Lewis Berg, 74, died Wednesday afternoon after pneumonia. He lived with his daughter on County Line road east of Dalton and is survived by two sons Ira A. Berg of this place and Marion Berg of near Wooster, plus several daughters. Funeral services Sunday at 1:30 at the residence and 2:00 at Pleasant View church with Rev. Wm. Myers officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
Levi Horst 77 a longtime community resident died at his home Monday at 4am after a lingering illness He leaves one son Elmer of Apple Creek one daughter Mrs Amanda Lehman of Dalton one adopted daughter Mrs Esther Detbel at the home three brothers Jacob of Dalton Frank of North Lawrence and David of Orrville Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 30 pm from the family residence and at 2 pm in the Martin Mennonite church with burial in the church cemetery Rev Benj Good officiated
The Dalton Rotary Club sponsors an inter city smoker to be held tonight in the high school auditorium. Entertainers include Englehardt's orchestra J C Wade Billy Parsons and Pete the Clown. A buffet luncheon follows. Clubs invited include Orrville Rittman Canal Fulton Wooster Massillon Canton and Attica.
Dalton wins three games at Mt. Eaton with varsity 44 to 12 and reserve 32 to 6 while independent play sees Dalton 465 to 26 against Wooster CCC. lasting note on local church foundation by Sam Martin and Sons at Newman northeast of Dalton. Scott's Store promotes Christmas writing paper with two color sheets and imprinted addresses.
The new Jefferson Monticello nickels appeared in circulation over the past week. The design features Monticello and the portrait of Thomas Jefferson, with a federal reserve note indicating release and mint marks observed by collectors.
Miss Ethel Kirchhofer of Circleville has resigned as superintendent of Berger Municipal Hospital and plans to move to the Pacific coast. The hospital Advisory Committee expressed deep appreciation for her six years of service and reluctantly accepted the resignation, wishing her well in her new field. The resolution was signed by Drs. Stewart Sheets and Courtright.
Walter Domer proprietor of the Chevrolet garage says 1939 Chevrolet cars represent the highest attainments of auto manufacture. He even suggests a new Chevrolet could go in the family stocking to ease Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Demand for Chevrolets exceeds supply, signaling rising business.
