The Saturday night band concert starts at 7 30 weather permitting The program includes marches overtures waltz and duets featuring Dalbey Schlepegrell Powell and Purgeen as director Prof Oscar Purgeen leads the ensemble at the interurban hall with selections like The Silver Bell Sunny South and New Colonial among others
Mr Peter Shriber wife and daughter Mary of Chamal Mexico visit Dalton relatives. He formerly ran a local business but has lived in Mexico fourteen years. He reports bandit attacks and fear for American colonists though his valley farm with stock and implements worth $3000 remains safe. He plans to return once peace is restored. He praises the climate calling it the finest with no flies or mosquitoes.
Scott's advertises a complete new stock of pencils tablets pens slates rulers and related items for students and teachers. Located at the shop, the display includes Lake items and other essentials. Availability noted with full ranges for classroom use.
The Wayne County Sunday School convention will convene October 21 and 22 at the West Salem Methodist church. A five hundred delegate target is planned with five delegates per school. Grace Gardiner, county secretary, will promote the event via local newspapers. J H Tachantz of Sugar Creek township was named a county delegate to the state convention in Lima, with Joseph Gregory as his alternate.
The nineteenth annual Stinson McElhinney family reunion occurred at D. J. Weaver’s home near Marshallville on August 20. About two hundred relatives gathered with baskets for a long tented dinner followed by music, addresses, and recitations. Officers elected for the next year include President A E Dague and Vice President R J Stinson.
Slight frosts found no damage. Minnie Scott returns from Stark County visit. Curt Freet attends Chippewa Lake excursion from Massillon. Bertha Porter of Canal Fulton visits Mrs Jennie Baumann West Town. Lulu Houghton returns from Georgetown Q C. W Goudy moves to his farm south of town. A war song concert in Presbyterian church Friday September 7 directed by Prof W R Newell.
Last Sunday afternoon on Cherry street in Massillon the Feasel automobile carrying C. B. Feasel Emmett Feasel C R Goudy and Walter Kuorzen was struck by a Davis driven machine at a cross street. The Feasel car was pushed several feet and damaged but all passengers escaped harm. The Davis auto broke windshield lamps and caused the dented impact but the Feasel car could be driven home after minor adjustments.
Saturday evening Mrs. Frank Kosier noticed smoke under the Berg blacksmith shop eaves near six. Residents and bucket brigades contained the fire before the department arrived. Cause thought defective flue. shop closed for the day. Damage under twenty dollars. insured.
Open air service moved to U P church due to cool weather. Congregation filled aisles with chairs as U P choir provided music. Rev J W Findlay preached from Judges 16 6 Thy Great Strength focusing on spiritual strength over physical mental and moral power. Next week Rev M A Burris to preach with Presbyterian choir. If bad weather the service will be at Presbyterian church.
Water rent is now due and must be paid at once to collector W. R. Locke. The water will not be turned on again until all arrearages are paid and if not paid within 30 days legal action will be commenced to collect the amount. Very truly, Board of Public Affairs.

The 11th annual Gou dy and Shanklin reunion is planned at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Stinson in Dalton on Saturday September 6 1913. A L Shanklin presides Ira Wertz is secretary.

A pleasant reception at United Presbyterian Church parsonage honors Grace and Margery Owens on leaving for Akron. About forty church youths attend with out of town guests Mrs Carl McAfee Edith Fleming and Mary Shriber. The event coincides with Rev. Hubbell birthday and ends with ice cream and cake.

The treasurer's office shows thirty thousand dollars in silver half dollars as one day’s gate receipts at the Ohio State Fair. Management forecasts eighty thousand dollars needed to cover expenses for Sept 1 to 5 with prizes, amusements, and advertising. Gate admissions remain the primary revenue source as the fair showcases a large educational and entertainment program.
The Ohio State Fair schedules free or discounted admissions on key days. Labor Day offers free entry for women until 5 PM, then 25 cents. HilliXin Day features a big bean dinner. Columbus Day promotes the fair’s fame. Governor's Day showcases current and former leaders.
