Acting Secretary Batcheller ruled that Chinese laundrymen are laborers under the Chinese Restriction Act and hence cannot land in the United States even if previously present. The report includes other local notes from Faulk County and Pierre regarding Pickler’s farewell handshake and community tributes.
Wm. T. Morgan a former circuit judge and longtime public figure was shot and killed by D. Gibbs after a quarrel in Fort Surra Arkansas. The incident occurred yesterday with Morgan described as violent and overbearing.
Hoxon Oct 29 The South Dakota Enforcement League sends greetings for the prohibition victory in the state and outlines its aims to safeguard and tighten prohibition in law. It notes the shift from the Non Partisan Prohibition organization to the Enforcement League formed Nov 15 and urges citizens to join and support limited contributions.
Reports say 200 to 300 squatters on the Fort Pierre reservation will be driven off before opening. The government intends to remove boomers as lands they located may be seized by the Northwestern Railway for railroad purposes per prior agreement. Military and Indian police ordered to eject remaining boomers.

They will be at home in November in Huron, with Hyde county friends sending best wishes.

Raymond residents push for an artesian well while Yankton hosts a fruit exhibition with ninety two varieties. An artesian well in Yankton shows 150 psi pressure. a Hamlin county farmer yields 30 bushels per acre at $2 per bushel. L Holbrook of Fairview reports a 210 foot artesian flow.
