In the March term court at 2 PM Judge Campbell presides as Johnson v Lane verdict for defendant on commission case. The state v Emil Weir murder case begins with 28 jurors drawn, 12 accepted, and a crowded courtroom with many spectators including women. Witnesses describe the crime scene and early testimony continues, with proceedings adjourned for dinner.
The court spent Thursday afternoon on cases including Fred Polly charged with assault with intent to rape, with a verdict of assault reached Friday morning and sentencing to follow. Edward Bodden was sentenced to ten days for indecent exposure, John A Johnson pleaded guilty to carrying concealed weapons with a $20 fine and costs. The Gund Brewing Co. won $362.25 on a note dispute, Young v Coburn yielded $3691 to the plaintiff, Emil Weir pled not guilty to murder, and Zeller v Joy Bros. produced a $36 verdict for the plaintiff.
