Large delegations arrived last evening for a city reception in Pierre. The hall was filled beyond capacity with hundreds left outside. Capt. Phi Lawrence presided as master of ceremonies. Attorney General Crawford spoke for Pierre, Capt Lawrence for the G A R, Miss McMillan for the W R C, and Justin Sprague for the S of V. Generals Carpenter and others gave brief responses. The Pierre cornet band and local orchestras provided music.
