President Hill of the Great Northern calls for Congress to appoint a 21 member commission of bankers economists and business leaders to study the financial system and then adjourn. He criticizes current Congress for hindering progress and warns lawmakers should quit while ahead. He says none in power could earn a similar salary and urges a national financial plan.
W. W. Erwin declined to outline the state's defense in the Hayward case. He said the trial must be honestly conducted and that no fictitious defense or prosecution will suffice. He noted there has been too much newspaper talk and hinted he may comment publicly later.
Washington reports strained US Spain relations over tariffs. Spain places the United States in its first column threatening retaliation that could close American ports to Spanish goods. Cuban raw sugar shipments and 20000 workers could be affected as sugar prices rise and flour duties shift in retribution.

Governor Atkinson received a telegram from Brooks county Sheriff Thrasher at Quitman reporting imminent deployment of 30 Valdosta Videttes to the scene ten miles from Quitman. He advised keeping the Waycross Rifles in reserve and they are ready at Waycross. Reports list seven killed including Constable Mauldin and several others. The situation is believed near resolution with militia presence likely ending the disturbance.
Produce exchanges and dairymen associations nationwide prepare to push enforcement of the oleomargarine law following Justice Harlan's Supreme Court ruling. A national convention will be held in January with funds and plans to organize state by state action. The National Batter Cheese and Egg Dealers Association coordinates, with chapters in Chicago and talks with the New York Produce Exchange.

Duluth, Dec. 26. Harry Moss, sought at Sault Ste. Marie Michigan for the abduction of a 13 year old girl, was arrested in Duluth after three months living under an assumed name.

Milwaukee report states Judge Walker denied DA Hammel's bid for an arrest warrant for William Plankinton, bank vice president. He sent the matter to the incoming district attorney and warned that suits must target all directors, not individuals apart from the bank president.
The president rejected clemency for Two Sticks Huah alias Two Sticks a Brule Sioux murderer to be hanged at Deadwood South Dakota on December 28 after four cowboys were killed during a hospitality visit. U.S. Attorney Miller and Attorney General Olney indicated strong support for execution.
The Thirty second annual meeting of the Minnesota Educational association is in St Paul continuing until Friday night. Many prominent educators from the state attend with receptions at the Windsor hotel and theater entertainments. About 300 teachers are present.
On Forest Lake Minnesota December 26 Eugene Rahm and his sister Ida broke through an air hole while skating. Three of Victor Berggren's boys aided others in reaching the victims. Bahm and Ida spent ten minutes in freezing water before rescue left them nearly chilled to death.
