With Funkstown's water system now practically finished, residents and officials organized the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company. A 15,000 bond supported the project, and 40 members elected officers led by Chief Jonn Talbert.

Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia entrants join local florists in showcasing marigolds zinnias roses and miniature gardens with prizes to be awarded. Judges Stephen W Vincent and W H Williams visit Raspeburg and White Marsh. An admission fee is charged and the show opens at 2 PM Friday with evening hours.

Bert Williams of Chestertown Maryland and H E Miller of California were arrested near Brady after Wright's body was found on a freight train. They were lodged by a woman who recognized them from broadcast descriptions.
An 11 year old boy, Alvey V Walker of 36 South Potomac Street, collided with a Martinsburg automobile while riding his bicycle in an alley behind Central Ga rage South Potomac Street. He suffered a head cut and arm and body bruises and was taken to Washington County Hospital where he was reported resting comfortably. He is the grandson of Dr A P B Stauffer.
Local officers seek two fugitives from a Chambersburg road gang as they head toward the city. Ralph Hauck of New Cumberland and John Goodyear of Carlisle are the escapees, one jailed for man supporting and the other on a liquor charge. Visitors Helen and Mabel Funkhouser, from Indian Springs, called on their cousin Wilona Ridenour.

In Ambridge Pennsylvania a car ran off the road and overturned near the Ambridge Country Club tonight killing 13 year old Faui Nelson and injuring 18 year old Paul Blanarik and 17 year old Robert Kenney. They were taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital for treatment.
