Blimp Los Angeles Flies Over Hagerstown En Route North
The Los Angeles Navy dirigible passed over Hagerstown shortly before six yesterday evening on a return flight to Lakehurst New Jersey. It was from a training near Annapolis and Washington D C and traveled in a semicircle toward Chewsville Smithsborg and Chambersburg before heading northeast. Aboard was Claude R Roof of Hagerstown who recently enlisted in the Navy and is stationed at the Lakehurst hangar. Commander Vincent A Clark Jr commanded the airship.

Hat dropped from airship near Chambersburg engineer’s home
The airship floated over Eugene C. Clark’s home, boss of Chambersburg Engineering, dropping a hat near him. It bore the name T. R. Roof of Hagerstown Md, seen as a tribute to Commander Clark aboard the craft. The ship had planned a trip to Hagerstown and Antietam Battlefield but weather prevented it.

Prizes Awarded by Danzer Metal Works To Schools and Scouts
Two high school groups and two Boy Scout groups won prizes from Danzer Metal Works for best sheet metal craft. Alfred Long won the high school first prize for a vase, with W. uw. Jenkings second for a canteen. George Krott and Woodrow Hines won first and second in the Boy Scout group for a bucket and a tin cup. Judges included Earl D. Huterr John C. Long Paull 8 Shields and H. Schindel. The exhibit featured ash trays cake trays canteens buckets tin cups aquariums and smoking stands. It is the first term of this program to continue to encourage the craft.

Young Boys Warned Over Damage at Singer Museum
City Park watchers report six boys snooped near the Singer Museum building. Lieut Williams and Patrolman Davis found them and warned them to stay away. A watchman said valuable stones were broken and the cellar flooded by the youths.

White Man Held In Negro Murder Case
John Royer of near Paw Paw was held without bond by the Morgan County grand jury in West Virginia on a murder charge linked to the death of Lon Amos, a black man. Four other suspects were released. Royer admitted visiting the negro’s home the night of the killing and finding the body, and said he did not report it immediately to avoid blame.

Woman Held In Fatal Shooting In Washington Case
Laplata Md Sept 23 Mrs Lulu May Gamble mother of ten was re arrested after the death of Mrs Elsie Davis in Washington. Gamble admitted at a preliminary hearing she fired the fatal shot while threatening her husband and Mrs Davis when she found them together near her husband s automobile. She said the pistol discharged accidentally as Mrs Davis ducked into the line of fire.

State corn yield low in drought hit Maryland crops
A prolonged dry spell cut Maryland corn yield to about 28 percent of normal, the Department of Agriculture reports, marking the smallest crop on record since 1866.
