Moose Convention Opens in Maryland City Hall
The Marr land and Border States Moose Association opens its annual convention on Saturday September 3 at 3 PM in the Hotel Alexander hall. J Edward Cochran of J Edward Cochran & Company Insurance Brokers has qualified as a delegate for the Retnaizers National Convention to be held September 10 11 and 12 at the Greenbrier Hotel White Sulphur Springs WV He will be accompanied by Arthur Speicher after meeting qualification requirements in an eight month production campaign. The Moose convention begins in the ball room of Hotel Alexander at 9. Sunday events include religious services, a lunch for men at Colonial Hotel and women at Beck's Tavern, a large class initiation at the armory with R. S. Strausburg presiding, and a public meeting with Charles Rippetoe as MC. Mayor Wertz welcomes all, Mayor Howard W. Jackson of Baltimore speaks, Mrs Zona Miller Hall sings. Monday features business reports, officer elections, speeches by Donald F. Stewart and Mrs Charles M Kennedy. Gov Harry W. Nice addresses, regional director Charles M Kennedy also speaks, a street parade at 4 and end at 7 with a Moose Home reception.

Carroll County Man Arraigned on Federal Tax Charges
Eugene S. Stump of Westminster Carroll county was arraigned before U S Commissioner D Angle Wolfinger on violating Internal Revenue laws and held on 500 bond awaiting Federal Grand Jury action. He was arrested in Hanover Pa by federal agents after a raid found a 150 gallon still 50 gallon cooler and coil 300 gallons of rye mash and five gallons of liquor. He has prior liquor law convictions in federal and state courts.
