The Ha gerstown Duplicate Bridge Club held a last night tournament at The Club. Winners receiving master points included Mrs C H Miller and Mrs Laura Clapp, north and south, and Mrs J O Funkhouser and Lewis Hamilton, east and west. Mrs Martin Urner won a cap for near point guess. Louise Fletcher lectured on Culbertson bidding. Clapp announced the club joined the United States Bridge Association. In Frederick, several locals attended a Royal Arch degree ceremony for three candidates including A K McGraw and Hugh G Downs.

Posters Display at Washington County Free Library Exhibit
An exhibit of student designed posters on world peace and resource conservation fills the Washington County Free Library lobby and children's alcove. Ninth grade pupils from South Potomac Street and Woodland Way Junior High Schools created the works. the display runs daily May 26 to 29 from 10 AM to 9 PM.

Girl Scout Court of Awards Held at City Park
One of the largest Girl Scout Court of Awards was held at City Park with 125 scouts and parents. Washington Cavalry Girl Scout Council hosted. awards were given to multiple Brownie and Troop members, followed by a Memorial parade invitation and council meeting. Marriage licenses listed include Joseph Getsko Jr and Alda Hockersmith among many others from Pennsylvania and nearby states.

The annual meeting of the local Women's International League for Peace and Freedom elected new officers led by chairman Mrs H V Hart and president Mrs John J Porter.
