Explosion at Elmont Fireworks Plant Hurts Six
Six people were injured after a series of explosions at the Elmont Fireworks Company on Long Island. Anthony Friedman 34 suffered serious burns as five storage buildings and a workshop burned. Mary Lanzetta worsened by fracturing her ankle while fleeing the home adjoining the plant. Anthony Lanzetta and three volunteer firefighters also sustained minor injuries as display fireworks and propelling powder ignited, waking dawn residents.

One Injured in Auto Accident at Salem and Mitchell Avenues
William Kline, 400 block Salem Avenue, injured in a collision between two cars at Mitchell and Salem Saturday night. Kline was a passenger in M. T. Carbaugh's car from Hagerstown Route 2. Carbaugh's vehicle was demolished after a southbound car driven by Ralph T. Shives from Clearspring Route 1 struck it. Patrolmen Schmidt and Baughman said Shives ran a boulevard sign and failed to stop.
