Plans outline events for Hamcock High School with Class Night on Friday May 29 and graduation on Wednesday June 3 in the school auditorium. Fourteen boys and fourteen girls will graduate. Buxton Adjudged Insane In Hatchet Slayings Trial
Mrs Thelma Buxton, wife of Washington College chemistry head Kenneth Buxton, was found insane and will be committed to Springfield State Hospital for the hatchet slaying of her mother in law Effie Buston. The two day trial focused on medical testimony with defense urging medical care instead of prison. State's Attorney Collins said premiditation and deliberation were not proven and offered four verdict options.

Death by own action of young dentist found dead
The badly decomposed body of Dr. Dudley C. Brownell a 26 year old dentist from New Oxford Pa was found on a rural road near Charmian to Iron Springs by farmer John Benchoff. Coroner A W Thrush ruled death by own action from carbon monoxide gas noting the man had likely been dead about 48 hours. A garden hose was taped to the car exhaust and ran into the left rear window of Brownell's two door sedan.
