In Washington on May 18 the House introduced a plan to provide 3.3 trillion dollars for a broad public works program. Funds would be placed at the disposal of President Roosevelt to carry out the initiative if the measure passes.
The article outlines a plan to use a portion of funds for interstate road construction with $300 million allocated on regular Federal road aid and $100 million distributed by population. Maryland could receive up to about $4 million for road construction. River and harbor projects may be included, with $384,000 authorized for Baltimore harbor work still pending. A site for the Hagerstown post office is secured on West Franklin Street between Potomac and Jonathan streets.
Clinton N Howard famed prohibition advocate will address two public mass meetings in St Pauls M E Church Monday May 22 at 8 pm under the National United Committee for Law Enforcement. He recently completed a Washington DC tour and has spoken across the nation urging repeal of the 18th Amendment. His talk on Crufy the Constitution. He has spent 25 years in prohibition work and once spoke in Hagerstown. The National United Committee for Law Enforcement links W C T U allied groups and churches in a drive against liquor traffic across capitals and cities.
Ocean City will become the voting center for surrounding territory after June 1 under a new county election district No 10. Residents of Holly Grove Hering Creek Byrd's Nest West Ocean City Sinepuxent Neck and North Beach will vote at Ocean City instead of Berlin. Also note Roosevelt Garner unable to attend World’s Fair opening as press crams Washington.

Open to 1933 Studebaker riders, it sought 50 word expressions on the car’s most important feature. More than 15,000 entries from 45 states. A St Paul man won first prize car.
Local Masons joined the Grand Lodge of Maryland annual communication at the Masonic Temple in Baltimore. Announcement of the new Masonic Home at Cockeysville noted its completion and furnishing. Attendees included J. Lloyd Harshman, Harry A. Snyder, W. B. King, and A. K. McGraw. Snyder presided at the Knights Templar encampment in Baltimore. Regular Howard Street PTA meeting tonight at 7:45 features installation of new officers and a reception with music and readings by students and teachers.
