Judson S. Shaffer, former Cumberland merchant, was found guilty of possession and sale of Mayer and sentenced to six months in jail and a 500 fine. A committee will be named today after a conference with millers elevator men and farmers at the Hotel Alexander. The group will study the proposal to establish a licensed wheat inspector to grade local wheat to improve prices. The panel includes two millers two grain elevator men two farmers and one grain broker chaired by Roy C. F. Weagley of Beaver Creek. The inspector would operate within switching distance of Hagerstown with possible expansion. Both state and federal oversight were discussed and low protein wheat demand noted for biscuit and cracker manufacturing.
