Nobile reports sighting rescuers amid missing Italia crew
The Statant News Agency says General Nobile told base ship Citta Di Milano via radio he saw two seaplanes flying to rescue him. The pilots Riiser-Larsen and Luetzow Holm returned from the mission claiming they did not see the Italia crew or the red tent. They flew from the ice breaker Braganza north of Spitzbergen and reportedly searched about an hour over the survivors’ area but did not spot the camp or tent. Nobile requested guidance on treating a broken right shinbone. His reported position 88.33 North 27.12 East places him near Foyn Island, aiding the next rescue flight. Captain Romagnu believed the coordinates would help locate the marooned men. Captain Risset-Larsen said he flew over North Cape Cape Platen and Reps Island along the north coast.

Flagman Dies After Train Collision on Bridge
Leon Gray, 40, a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad flagman from Baltimore, was struck by an eastbound passenger train on the Harpers Ferry bridge yesterday at about 10:30 AM. He clung to the cross tie to avoid falling, but was hit as the two trains met, his body landing about 50 feet below on rocks in the river. Death listed as caused by head injuries after 15 years with the railroad.
