Bids Opened for Shepherdstown Bridge Project in Maryland
Baltimore June 9 The M J Grove Lime Co of Lime Kiln submitted two bids for the Shepherdstown bridge project. A six span Wichert continuous steel truss bid 231325.50 and a seven span rigid continuous steel plate girder bid 249870.15. Five other bidders, including Potts and Callahan Baltimore 26715 50 Whiting Turner Baltimore 264730 53 Merritt Chapman Le an Baltimore 288 and Callahan Baltimore 263957 80, submitted offers. Officials will wait for state and federal review before letting a contract. Previous reinforced concrete arch bids were rejected as too high. A second bid period opened with Tuller Construction of Red Bank New Jersey as the highest bid on the Wichert type. Six firms bid on both plans.
