Family Crash Kills Two. Seven Injured Near Thurmont

A family of nine traveling eastbound collided with a Western Maryland Railway passenger train west of Thurmont yesterday. Lena Claybaugh, 6, and her aunt Mary Claybaugh, 54, died in Frederick City Hospital. Apna 12 Roy 10 and Russell 2 were described as serious, with severe head injuries and blood loss.

Family of Six in Accident Near Thurmont Maryland

In Creagerstown Maryland Ernest Clay Baugh 42 his wife 40 and their six children were returning from the woods when their car collided with a train near a crossing on a small road east of Thurmont The impact hurled the vehicle from the tracks and the crew stopped the train summoning physicians and an ambulance from Thurmont Lula 9 and Grace 7 survived as injured members were treated at the hospital.

Intruder Found In Frederick Home In Early Morning Breach

S O Neikirk of 425 Wilson Boulevard reported a negro man in his bedroom about 5 AM Sunday and chased him from the house to Summit avenue where he escaped with a small amount of change. Another resident at 845 Summit reported a break in via a rear window. Authorities believe the suspect is part of a band active in Frederick and Boonsboro weeks earlier.

Y M C A Camp Ends After Three Weeks At Big Pool

The Y M C A camp at Big Pool closes today after a three week outdoor program. About 50 boys, in good health with no accidents, enjoyed swimming and hikes. Camp director Harry E. Wolf and campers found notable Indian relics including chalcedony arrowheads and white quartz artifacts near Fort Frederick. Dick Wood and Bernard Wolf reported numerous Indian implements, suggesting nearby village sites.

Governor Ritchie Appears Well After Nose Bleed Incident

Ocean City Maryland July 31 Governor Albert C Ritchie showed no lingering effects from a nose bleed suffered Friday night after arriving for a weekend visit He held lengthy talks with State Senators Milton L Veasey of Foosmack City and David J Ward of Salisbury along with Eastern Shore Democratic leaders.

Frederick man Henry A Hahn longtime Sunday school teacher dies

Henry A Hahn aged 80 died after an eight week illness in Frederick Maryland. Born in Germany he came to Frederick at age three and served on the city board of aldermen from 1907 to 1910. He was active in temperance work and treasurer of the Frederick county Anti Saloon League. A retired leather merchant, Hahn led a long local public life.

Plan Cruising Cars At Night For Police Department

The Board of Street Commissioners approved purchasing two new automobiles for night patrols. With 11 officers covering 80 miles of pavement and 15 on night duty, two cruisers will operate separately in the southern and northern city sectors to speed response and deter crime.

Municipal Band Concert Delights Crowd at City Park

A large crowd attended the Municipal Band concert last evening at City Park. Mrs. Helen Cavanaugh delivered a standout performance and piccolo players J Arthur Hill and Jacob Beard drew praise. Program favorites included Zampa Mile Modiste and the Hallelujah Chorus. Next week Zona Miller Hall of New York City will offer selections. The band is booked for Urmia Picnic at Row's Park on Wednesday and a concert at the Municipal Swimming Pool on Thursday.
