The Christian Endeavor Society of Rehobeth United Brethren Church Williamsport held a camp fire service and weiner roast at Mr and Mrs Charles Tabler Pinesburg on Monday July 18. Rev N B S Thomas Leroy Clark and Miss Lewese Jones spoke and many members participated in games and fellowship.
A large crowd gathered for the Municipal Band in the park last evening. The program opened at a specified hour, with audience participation during songs. Zona Miller Hall from New York sang solos and earned two encores, while Richard Munson praised the bari tone horn and Clarence Ridgely impressed on sax. The piece The evolution of Dixie showcased various idioms. Floyd Sherman will be the soloist next Sunday night.
A July 8 party at Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Herbst honored their daughter Dora Herbst on her 12th birthday. Faithful Workers Sunday school class and teacher Mrs. Maude C. Newcomer enjoyed games and refreshments with ice cream, cakes, candies, and pretzels. The DeMolay Rifle Club of the local chapter will meet this evening at 7 15 PM in the Masonic Temple. All members are urged to attend.

The Fountain Head Country Club ladies golf team will play a nine hole match tomorrow morning in Waynesboro as a warm up for a Wednesday afternoon contest with the Waynesboro Country Club. A case of soft drinks awaits the tomorrow winner. The regular Tuesday match is cancelled due to the upcoming match. EVANGELICAN PICNIC AT MT CARME L CHURCH SHANKSTOWN July 30.
Do You Recall Captain Winifred B. Harwood of Belair named to take charge of Company B. The company was 200 strong, recruited to full war strength. Hugh A. McMullen Cumberland announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for State Comptroller. Charles S. Gardner Blue Ridge Summit H B E Petrie Greencastle and Joshua W. Coolidge Pen Mar were reappointed postmasters. Baptists led Sunday School League by defeating St Pauls M E. John C O Connell treasurer of the Hagerstown Brewery, his son Wilson, and Lewis A. Roach were seriously injured when their car was struck by a Western Maryland freight train at Antietam street crossing.
Tra Wagner, 24, popular express agent, died at his home in Green Castle. He was formerly employed here. Fire destroyed St. Martin's Lutheran Church and eight other buildings in Annapolis. Washington county school population totaled 13,118 with 12,458 whites. Dudley and Charles Brewer caught a string of 13 bass at Dam No 4. Mr and Mrs W Harry Reisner, Mr and Mrs J F Harman, Mr and Mrs Wm P Odell, and Miss Grace Schindel camped along the Potomac near Shepherdstown.
Hagerstown Chapter of the Order of DeMolay will hold a July outing at Minnichs Clubhouse at Snyders Landing on Thursday August 4 plans include swimming dancing and boating for members and their girl friends Hilton Long Fred Entler Edgar Reed and Fred Mowen organizing arrangements
Trinity Lutheran Sunday school plans its annual picnic at Pen Mar Park with five to six hundred attendees. A special train from Hagerstown leaves at 8 45 A M returning at 7 45 P M rain or shine. The event features an eleven piece German band plus contests and novelties with free train tickets. Committee members include Elmer, Carl, Fred Entler, Herman Hixson and Frank Hentz.
Thursday evening at Lucky Strike golf course the Princes of Syracuse and Hagerstown Chapter Order of De Molay contest the young men's fraternal golf championship. Four players from each lodge compete with nine o'clock tee times. Public invited to attend.
A wiener roast on Thursday at Crystal Grottoes drew attendees including Laura Selvey of Salisbury Ruth Cane Mary Fines Rohrer Beulah Smith and Roscoe Young families. Plans are set for the 14th Harbaugh reunion on Saturday August 6 at Pen Mar with all kin and friends invited.
