Ferguson Company Wins City Sewage Improvements Bid
The J B Ferguson Company was awarded the contract to improve and extend the sewage disposal plant by the Mayor and Council in a special session. The bid totals about 118,896 dollars, roughly 1,600 under Suburban Engineering Company of New York. EB W Whitlock of Fuller and McClintock reviewed the contract with city officials and recommended higher priced machinery for long term savings.

Police Find Body Of Frederick Man
The body of Howard V. Strine, 52, a Frederick fireman, was found in his apartment by police yesterday afternoon. Initially suspected of foul play due to a head wound, Justice Guy K. Motter, acting coroner, ruled the death as acute alcoholism after medical consultation. Strine, twice married, is survived by three children.

STATE GUARD UNITS BEGIN REAL TRAINING AT CAMP RITCHIE
National Guard Company B from this city started two weeks of training at Camp Ritchie last Saturday and conducted real instruction on life and pistol range. Local men with prior outdoor range qualification completed indoor practice using 30 and .22 caliber arms. Lieut. Carl T. Schiellerbeck led guard mount from Sunday night to last evening. First Regiment reports 100 percent attendance—1,119 soldiers and 66 officers—first time this record has been achieved. Natoinal Guard Air Corps observation squadron flew in with two planes and carried messages by radio and hook.

Governor’s Day Could Move to Sunday at Camp Veterans Day

Flintstone Man Dies Diving From Bridge
Flintstone resident Ard Johnson, 24, drowned Monday in Town Creek near Hancock while swimming with youths. He dived into a 12 foot hole from a concrete bridge, did not surface for a half hour, and efforts to revive him failed. He worked in Cumberland.

Washington July 25 The Distinguished Flying Cross awarded by Congress to Amelia Earhart Putnam for her trans Atlantic flight will be presented by Vice President Curtis at the opening of the Olympics in Los Angeles on Saturday.
