Waynesboro Sewer Collapse Kills Three Relief Workers
A sewer trench collapse on Philadelphia avenue in Waynesboro traps twelve rescuers, killing three Federal relief workers and injuring others. Gas fumes hindered the rescue as crews from Potomac Edison and local companies worked alongside police and fire units. Coroner's inquest planned for Monday night.

Balloon from Century of Progress found after 610 mile journey
Charles F. Ridenour of Lantz Maryland recovered a small balloon near Smithsburg on July 3. The paper inside named it as one of 500 sent from the Hall of States Chicago parks on June 25 at 6 30 P M. It traveled seven days and thirteen hours covering about 610 miles at 3.5 miles per hour.
