In Haiti July 6 President Roosevelt and Haitian President Stenio Vincent toasted renewed relations and the imminent withdrawal of U.S. Marines within a month or six weeks. Roosevelt, aboard the USS Houston en route to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, praised friendship and independence as crowds cheered in Port-au-Prince during a two hour visit marked by a 21 gun salute.

Plan Action In Pavement Cases
The Mayor and Council voted to clamp down on delinquent pavement layers and summon noncompliant property owners to show cause why pavements should not be laid.
