Washington July 3 The administration faces a pivotal week as Congress, still in recess for Independence Day, weighs two hotly debated measures. Roosevelt's advisers will decide whether to push the neutrality and landing programs or let the session end. The Senate plans a Wednesday vote on the monetary bill amid tensions.
Six bids were received for office equipment and precinct binders to set up a permanent registration system in the county. The Board of County Commissioners will open bids at 2 PM Wednesday and tabulate them for study before awarding contracts.
Tax supervisor Guy Gantz announced his office will begin in office work Wednesday on the general reassessment of real estate in the county to be conducted this summer. Several clerks have been named to assist, with field work by assessors named by the Board of County Commissioners starting about August 1 and taking several months to complete, depending on district size.

State tallies include California nine, Ohio eighteen, New York eighteen, Texas twelve, Pennsylvania fourteen, Illinois nine, Michigan nine, Maryland eleven, New Jersey nine, and others.
Charleston W V July 3 A note found written with a mascara pencil indicates a young couple planned their deaths in a death by own action pact. Barney Russell 22 and Gladys Church 19 were killed at a Chesapeake and Ohio grade crossing in St Albans when their auto was struck by a westbound train. The note urged authorities to keep them together and mentioned Miss Church and Mr Russell.

He spoke from a hotel room in Brockville, where he is under guard after surrendering Saturday, as Louisiana officers prepared to escort him back for trial. His wife, charged with harboring and assisting, stayed in another room.
The Associated Press reports eleven deaths in Maryland over the first two days of the Fourth of July holiday due to drownings and car crashes. Six drownings and five traffic fatalities reflect heavy beach and resort travel with five deaths reported Saturday and six more by yesterday. One child burned near Ridgely is also noted among the fatalities. Names listed include Agnes Healy and Grace Post as victims.
Three sisters from Collinsburg drowned after leaping from a sinking skiff on the Youghiogheny River near West Newton while a fourth, Anna Skrjane, 20, survived by grabbing a tree branch. Firemen used grappling hooks and searchlights through the night but found no trace of Louise 22, Ann 20, and their 18 year old sister.
Charles D. Brunner of Smithshoro was arrested Saturday on drunken driving charges and pled guilty before Justice Harry E. Snyder in city courts this morning. He was fined $100 and costs with Deputy Sheriff C. B. Bender making the arrest.
The Williams Contracting Company of York Pennsylvania has begun work on rebuilding the Sunset Trail from Monterey to Emmittsburg. A large force of workmen is engaged on the contract.
John Sikes, a Burgaw farmer, rushed a fox raiding his hen house to save a prize hen. The fox bit his leg as it opened its jaws, and his daughter decapitated the animal with a large knife. They freed Sikes by prying the jaws apart, sending the head for rabies testing.
Rear Admiral Russell Randolph Waesche of the U S Coast Guard will deliver the dedicatory oration for the James Rumsey bridge at Shepherdstown on Saturday July 15, announced by Park Loy. The program centers on the Rumsey steamboat incident and a secret reproduction of the first steamboat.
Ralph FE Smith of Burkittsville was arrested in Frederick on a non support warrant and charged with unauthorized use of his sister in law s car and operating without a license. His brother John W Smith was arrested for drunkenness.

Philadelphia July 3 police from three counties searched for Louis Del Rossi missing since Friday afternoon after being seen with slain gangster Willie Lanzetti near City Hall. Detectives fear Del Rossi may have met the same fate as Lanzetti, whose body was found shot and sewn into burlap bags behind a Wynnewood estate. Captain Shaffer credited professional killers and suggested internal power struggles in the numbers racket motivated the crime.
Japanese Kwantung army reports capture of a heavily fortified Soviet Mongolian position on the Manchukuo Mongolia frontier after dawn bombardment and hand to hand fighting. They claim to have destroyed tanks and trucks and to have seized 30 tanks from a Mongolian corps of about 100.
Prime Minister Chamberlain told the House of Commons Britain has credible reports of intensive military preparations in Danzig. He cited German nationals arriving as tourists and a Heimwehr style defense corps forming. Britain says it is in contact with Poland and France over developments. Danzig officials admit precautionary steps with S S units in control of hills and augmented police in clear sight.
A 515 square mile Edgemont watershed survey by the Soil Conservation Service is completed. A report will be submitted to the city next week with a proposed reforestation and soil conservation program. The city may cooperate on a 400 acre plan, with trees obtainable from the state at 3 to 5 dollars per thousand.
Charles Hopewell, 58, colored, was sentenced to a year in the House of Correction on an assault charge after arraignment before Justice Martin V. Bostetter in city court this morning. Hopewell allegedly slashed Russell Jenkins, colored, in the back during a brawl in Suman's Alley Sunday. Family difficulties precipitated the fight. Jenkins' condition is not considered serious. Lester Baker, 52, of the 100 block West Antietam street, went to jail for five days in lieu of a $5 fine for discharging fireworks.
