Case Referred To Baltimore Office
A county turkey raiser and dealer was found to have sold turkeys above OPA ceiling prices. The case, heard by a local Price Panel, will be referred to Baltimore for enforcement. The dealer admitted overcharging. a large number of turkeys were sold above ceilings. He cited labor costs and feed as justification, plus a breed of turkeys that were blood tested. A shopper paid 56 cents live weight while the ceiling was 43 cents. The panel rejected labor cost excuses and noted the dealer also operated a stall at City Market. Four other cases emerged: two restaurants overcharged, a meat market overcharged especially on ground meat, and a plumbing contractor overcharged for labor though complying with other rules.

Movie Pioneer Bosworth Dies
Bosworth, a matinee idol of the turn of the century and later a cinema pioneer, died of pneumonia after a long career in stage and film. Born 1867 in Marietta Ohio he ran away at 12, joined a whaling voyage, then returned to act in San Francisco and New York. He helped launch early motion pictures in Los Angeles and produced The Sea Wolf eight reel version funded with a modest budget. His son George Hobart Bosworth was at his bedside as Cecile Bosworth flew from Washington.
