Mutuel frenzy at Charles Town as Two Brooms shocks bettors
A Charles Town race produced a $111 mutuel on a $2 ticket for Two Brooms, a two year old racing under a new name after four wins this year. The day prior, the horse paid even money, then surged to 55 to 1, while jockeys faced injuries and track hazards as racing faces a tougher spring meet. The column also notes Heather Moon’s past big payouts at Hagerstown and mirrors broader sports notes from Baltimore and Oklahoma to Southern California.
