Dixie Walker Struggles With Bad Knee For Dodgers
Brooklyn fans and Manager Leo Durocher cling to hope as Dixie Walker, praised as a Dodgers darling, battles a knee injury that could require surgery. He shows strong hitting despite the pain, hoping to finish the season without operation and help Brooklyn avoid more losses. Walker’s career has been marred by injuries since his Yankee days, with multiple trades moving him through White Sox and Tigers before reaching Brooklyn. The Tigers owner has pegged his value on his health and productivity, with a $7500 waiver price cited on potential sale. Dixie, from a baseball family, initially wanted to be a pitcher like his father but was steered to the outfield.
