Senate Uses Gag Rule to Speed Wagner Housing Vote
Washington August 4 The Senate imposed a voluntary gag rule to hasten a vote on the Wagner housing bill. No senator could speak more than 10 minutes on the bill and 15 minutes for amendments. The chamber yesterday also voted to raise the minimum Federal housing loan rate by 0.5 percent, with Walsh pressing for higher rates to cover admin costs. The Wagner bill would establish a Federal housing authority to loan and grant funds to remove slums and build housing.

Registration for the 16th annual Department of Maryland Legion convention at the local Legion home began at 10 this morning and by noon over 100 had signed in.
