Clermont County's Marathon Grange was among 80 Ohio Granges to receive a $50 U B Savings Bond and a special plaque for outstanding community service programs. Over 800 Granges statewide reported in the National Grange Sears Roebuck Foundation Community Service Contest, the largest participation in seven years and the largest from any state. Awards were based on community service work for the community at large.

A jury in Clermont Common Pleas Court convicted Albert Kassner of near Owensville of driving while intoxicated. He received a $150 fine five days in jail and a 90 day license suspension on good behavior with Judge James Lang presiding for Judge Harry Britton.

Farmer Sentenced To County Jail In Petit Larceny Case
Afton farmer Joe Bond 31 of Route 4 Batavia pleaded guilty to petit larceny before Judge Harry Britton in Common Pleas Court. He received 90 days in the county jail a $300 fine and three years probation on two other larceny charges. Deputies found stolen articles on his farm leading to arrest.
